Hi There!
My name is Kelly, I am a 30-something sometimes-flight attendant and always-dreamer. My mind is constantly wandering to far-off places, and my feet are not far behind. I travel the world with my husband Kevin, seeking new adventures both domestically and internationally. When I’m not on the move, I’m at my home in Southern California being entertained by my cats Boris and Miriam.
The Awkward Tourist came about around 15 years, ago, when my friends noticed my propensity for travel and my inability to be cool in any social situation. My parents took me on my first road trip when I was only a few months old, and traveling has been in my blood ever since. I did a Semester at Sea in college, where I lived on a cruise ship and sailed around the world for 4 months. I spend a summer working in rural Alaska, where I met my love Kevin. I have visited nearly 50 countries and have had such adventures as cage-diving with great white sharks in South Africa, a tiger safari in India, a cruise down the Nile River in Egypt, and walking amongst the Moai in Easter Island.
I vow to use this blog to inform and entertain, and I promise to always be straight with my readers. I will only recommend products or services that I love and have used myself, so that I don’t steer you wrong.
